With a 20+ year career spanning local and daily newspapers, magazine editing and digital publishing, Tim Burrowes has experienced the media revolution at first hand and come out ahead.

He trained on local newspapers in the UK. His first stint on specialist magazines was writing about the medical world for Hospital Doctor where he spent six years and was named British Society of Magazine Editors editor of the year for the first time.

He then became editor of UK title Media Week where he was again named BSME editor of the year.

He left the UK to launch the Middle East edition of marketing title Campaign, based in Dubai.

He arrived in Australia in 2006, as editor of weekly adland trade title B&T magazine which he comprehensively relaunched, also creating a new daily digital publication B&T Today.

He created media and marketing website Mumbrella in 2008, one of the first examples of the successful launches of a cloud-based journalistic business model disrupting existing players.

He has since launched sister title Encore, Australia’s first weekly tablet-only trade title.

In less than four years, he has gone from being the only employee to heading a staff of around 20, based in
Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong and Melbourne.

Active on social media, he has more than 50,000 followers on Twitter.

He regularly moderates debates and conferences with audiences ranging from a dozen to more than 1000.
